The phone book led Liz Moore to the Peace and Justice Action League of Spokane decades ago when she was a teenager, and she’s now celebrating her 15th year as the executive director of the community organization.

PJALS will host a Candlelight Vigil on Dec. 14. They join other humanitarian and human rights organizations in calls for a permanent cease-fire, an end to Israel’s current blockade of Gaza and the 16-year siege and the return of all hostages and political prisoners by Hamas and Israel.

The Peace & Justice Action League of Spokane (PJALS) is holding its 14th annual action conference Sept. 28 – 30. The conference is designed to help activists “sharpen skills, deepen analysis and strengthen relationships.”

Tomorrow, on the 50th anniversary of Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.’s speech "Beyond Vietnam: A Time to Break Silence," the Peace & Justice Action League of Spokane will host a panel discussion on the violence King addressed.

In the early hours of March 16, several buildings in downtown Spokane were vandalized, or "attacked" locals said, with the posting of fliers bearing anti-immigration, anti-refugee, and specifically anti-Semitic remarks and drawings.

Today at 5 p.m. a rally will take place in Spokane supporting immigrants and refugees.
