Gonzaga University’s Center for American Indian Studies and the City of Spokane will host a viewing of “Winter in the Blood,” a film by twin brothers Alex and Andrew Smith at 7 p.m., Friday, Nov. 21 and 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22 in the Jepson Center’s Wolff Auditorium at Gonzaga.
Last winter, city council passed legislation that expanded a law already on the books called the Sit/Lie Law, regarding people sitting or lying down on sidewalks. But in fact, the law is not about sitting or lying down. It's about being homeless.
Out of a concern about the needs of homeless people who may not have a way to get warm during extreme winter weather, the City of Spokane has selected and contracted with two social service agencies to be designated as “warming centers” for homeless people in preparation for winter, according to a press release.
