Nearly 30 church camps surround the Spokane area, teaching children and families the basics and traditions of various faiths. See below to learn about camp offerings, dates and prices and prepare to sit near a campfire under the stars with your best singing voice — twig and marshmallow in hand.
Camp Gifford
Camp Gifford is a Christian camp, owned and operated by the Spokane Salvation Army. Campers can swim, canoe, paddleboat, and attend daily chapel. Youth and teen camps run from June through August. 3846 N. Deer Lake Rd., Loon Lake. $60-$199.
Camp Lutherhaven
All Lutherhaven camps teach Christian-based values and lessons as well as risk-taking and life skills. Campers partake in traditional camp activities and Bible study and include Kindercamp (ages 4-5), Genesis (grades 1-2), Exodus (grades 3-4), Pioneers (grades 5-6), Villages (grades 4-6), Youth Leadership Camp (grades 7-10) and more. Camp MiVoden
Hosted by Upper Columbia Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, Camp MiVoden offers both Family and Adventure Camps as well as 20 other activity or course-based camps. Family Camp is faith-based and for families to play sports, raft, and do arts and crafts. 17415 E. Hayden Lake Rd., Hayden Lake. Aug. 5-12, Aug. 12-19, or Aug. 19-26. $230-$300. Camp Spalding
Spalding camps provide Christian programming in a natural setting where campers can encounter Christ at 8513 Hwy. 211 in Newport. Camp Spalding allows campers to rappel off cliffs, play on water trampolines, hike and ride zip lines and mountain bikes. Grades 2-4, June 20-23 and Aug. 12-15, $210. Cocolalla Lake Bible Camp
These Christ-centered camps offer children, teens and families a chance to partake in traditional camp activities at Cocolalla Lake Bible Camp, 209 Cocolalla Loop Rd., Cocolalla, Idaho. Camp Skills offers dodgeball, basketball, mountain bike, floor hockey, football, canoe, archery, miniature golf, drama, water games, lacrosse, fish and more. Ages 7-8, July 20-Aug. 2. North Idaho Catholic Youth Camp
North Idaho Catholic Youth Camp offers faith-based and traditional camp activities to campers. Shoshone Creek, Coeur d’Alene. Grades 5-12. July 8-13. $235.
Pacific Northwest Conference of the United Methodist Church Camps
Camp and Retreat Ministries host Christian camps across the nation, including family and primary camps in Rathdrum, Idaho. Grand 'Ole Family Camp offers faith-based campfire dance and song, games and team-building exercises. Twinlow Camp, Rathdrum, Idaho. July 4-7. $50 per camper. Peace Camp
Adventures in Peacemaking teaches children peaceful conflict resolutions through music, games and crafts. Unity Center of North Spokane, 4123 E. Lincoln Rd. Ages 5-13. July 23-26 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Free.
Pinecroft Christian Camps
Camps hosted by the Foothills Community Church include Junior High Camp (grades six through eight), Senior High Camp (grades nine through 12) and Primary Camp (grades three through five). Junior High Camp, July 9-13, $140. Senior High Camp, July 16-21, $150. Primary Camp, July 23-27, $140.
Quest Camp
Quest Camp is a faith-based camp through the Church of Nazarene. Campers will do arts, crafts and games. Coeur d’Alene Church of the Nazarene, 4000 N. Fourth St., Coeur d’Alene. June 11-Aug. 17 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. $15 per day; $65-$75 per week.
Riverview Bible Camp
Riverview Bible Camp’s theme for the year is Red Matters, with focus on Jesus’ words. Campers can ride zip lines, swim, do archery, and more. Cusick, Wash. Elementary school, July 18-22, $225. Middle school, July 24-29, $275. High school, July 31-Aug. 5, $275.
Ross Point Baptist Camp
Ross Point Camp provides campers and families an opportunity for Christian commitment and growth in an outdoor setting with softball, swim, hiking, kayaking and more. 820 S. Ross Point Rd. Satori Camp
Satori Camp is based on a philosophy of non-competition, as campers are not graded for participation. Camp course offerings include multimedia design, journalism, brain science, sculpture, archeology, acting, literary criticism, and more. Satori, Japanese for “Ah Ha!,” originally represented the enlightenment sought in Zen Buddhism. Eastern Washington University, Cheney, Wash. Ages 12-18. July 22-28. $695 resident, $595 commuter.
Twin Lakes Friends Camp
Friends Camp, partnered with Hayden Lake Evangelical Friends Church, is designed to bring kids to Jesus Christ and to develop Christian leaders. Lego Robotics Summer Camp will be held in Westminster’s upstairs rooms for two weeks at the end of
June. Lorna Kropp and Molly Zammit, FLL Coaches
and both former teachers at Discovery School, will be
holding two weeks of camp for two groups of children
each week. The camps will take place from 9:00 –
2:30 each day. The cost is $110 per week. There will
be a limit of 10 children in each of the age groups.
Registration is on-going until filled. Registration forms
are available in the church office. Early registration is
recommended. Join in for one or two weeks of fun.
