On Feb. 26 the Rev. Frank Case, Gonzaga University’s vice president for mission, will discuss his 18-year service at Jesuit headquarters in a lecture entitled “Reflections on Rome.”
According to a press release, Case will share insights and perspectives on the Jesuits’ international educational mission, founded by the work of St. Ignatius of Loyola nearly 500 years ago. Drawing from his deep experience in Jesuit governance, he will share how the close-knit organization approaches its global mission. In addition to reflecting on his experiences at the Society’s headquarters, Case will also speak about the road ahead for the Jesuits in the United States and abroad.
Case served as U.S. regional assistant at the Jesuit Curia (1990-2005), and as general secretary of the Society of Jesus (2005-08). He participated in each of the last three General Congregations of the Society and in many national and international meetings hosted by the Jesuits.
He entered the Society of Jesus in 1956 and was ordained in 1969. He holds a bachelor’s degree in philosophy, master’s degrees in economics and sacred theology, and a Ph.D. in economics.
The lecture will be at 10:30 a.m., Feb. 26 in the Magnuson Theatre in College Hall on campus. The Greater Gonzaga Guild sponsors the event, which is free and open to the public.
