Hobby Lobby Stores, Inc. saw victory in federal court today when it was granted temporary exemption from the 2010 healthcare law that requires it offer workers insurance coverage for birth control. Hobby Lobby says this mandate goes against its Christian beliefs. Today’s injunction prevents the government from enforcing the mandate against Hobby Lobby.

Currently there are 63 lawsuits challenging the HHS mandate, according to The Becket Fund for Religious Liberty.

“The tide has turned against the HHS mandate,” said Kyle Duncan, general counsel with the Becket Fund, and lead attorney for Hobby Lobby.

The case has been put on hold until Oct. 1.

There are two Hobby Lobby stores in the Spokane area.
