All are welcome to attend the Sarana Affirmation Service at the Spokane Buddhist Temple, in which 19 people will receive Buddhist names and pledge to lead the Buddhist way of life.
On a hot, sunny Saturday afternoon, attendees of all ages visited the Spokane Buddhist Temple to obtain an insight into Japanese culture as they dined on Japanese cuisine, amongst other activities, including the delicious taste of sweet and sour pork and chewy coconut flavor of mochi dessert amidst Buddhist literature, jewelry and other merchandise.
Beginning this month the Spokane Buddhist Temple will offer a six-week Introduction to Buddhism class, which will be taught be Sensei Paul Vielle, one of the temple's volunteer ministers.
