Sixpence None the Richer was formed when guitarist and songwriter Matt Slocum met vocalist Leigh Nash at a church camp. During their early years they recorded under a Christian label, but went more mainstream in 1997. They are best known for their hit single, “Kiss Me“, which gained them the national spotlight in 1998. It was even played at that televised wedding of England’s Prince Edward.
Matt and Leigh disbanded, but reunited again in 2007 to release a Christmas album titled The Dawn of Grace. They started working on Lost in Transition, which was originally scheduled to be released in August of 2010. Due to problems with record labels, the release date has been pushed back several times. It is now planned for August of this year, and may even be self produced.
Sixpence has pre-released the single Radio from their new album. “While driving and listening to the radio, an old favorite song inspires a man to reminisce about an old relationship born from a road trip,” Nash said on the video premiere. It sounds very much like their earlier stuff, as if they had never disbanded, don’t you think? Take a listen and let me know if you agree?
