What is the religious function of film? Can films operate as theological, religious, and ethical resources? Can they help us to live meaningfully within the context of contemporary American culture? And, how do movies provide opportunities for divine encounters?

These are some of the questions Gonzaga University Professor Matthew Rindge will address Thursday at the Spokane Area Jewish Family Services community luncheon from 12 to 1:30 p.m. It will be held at Temple Beth Shalom.

Tickets for the luncheon are $5 for seniors and students, and $10 for the general public.
