The question of taking any life, even one’s own, is taken very seriously in Buddhism. Sarah Conover wrote a column that delved into this issue from a Buddhist perspective back in March.
No one that I know of can look into the crystal ball and tell what happens in rebirth for anyone. That being said, there is a strong belief that kindness and compassion are virtues to be developed, and the Buddha said that you will not find anyone in the world more deserving of your love than yourself.
