St John’s Cathedral will present its traditional Anglican Service of Nine Lessons and Carols Friday at 7 p.m.

Lessons & Carols is a candlelight service of choral music and readings of Scriptures in Spokane’s only Gothic cathedral.

Together with the Cathedral organ, an instrumental quartet of flute, oboe, English horn and cello will be advent music presented by St John’s Cathedral Choir, conducted by Music Director Timothy Westerhaus.  Music will include Boris Ord’s “Adam Lay Ybounden,” “My Song in the Night,” and Knut Nystedt’s “Cry Out and Shout.”  The Cathedral Junior Choir will sing two anthems, and the Cathedral Bell Choir will play an arrangement of “Veni Creator.”
