The Peace and Economic Justice Action Conference's Opening Reception "Rise Up Singing" will kick off the Peace and Justice Action League's annual Action Conference with spoken word and musical performances on Friday beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Sravasti Abbey will host Buddhist scholar, philosopher, and author Guy Newland for teachings and talks June 22-29. His appearances include services at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Spokane and a benefit for Youth Emergency Services in Newport, as well as teachings at the abbey.
Warrior Songs Spokane, the local branch of Warrior Songs Inc., is sponsoring "The Welcome: A Public Listening" at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Spokane at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 9. The event will consist of stories, songs, poetry and paintings by veterans. It is the culmination of a four-day Veteran Healing Retreat using the creative arts.
Singer-songwriter Jason Moon is an Iraq War veteran who uses science, humor, storytelling to tell his personal experience in a 90 minute entertaining and educational message about how returning post-traumatic stress disorder and military sexual trauma affects veterans, families and entire communities, according to a press release.
