Even though it’s only been a week since Veradale United Church of Church experienced vandalism and theft, the halls of the church were filled with joy and love Sunday, where members of the church and community held a “Love is Greater than Hate” flash mob potluck.
The Jewish community in Spokane, and all over the world, is welcoming the new year beginning at sundown on Sunday, Sept.25. Rosh Hashanah is celebrated with family and friends, celebratory and traditional foods, religious music, chants, prayer and reflection.
On Tuesday evening the Spokane community is invited to a vigil at Temple Beth Shalom to honor those killed Saturday at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh.
The synagogue has security measures in place, but Malino said what will also help the congregation feel secure is people turning up for the Kosher Dinner to show their support for the Jewish community.
Levine will present multiple times in a four-day span at Gonzaga University and Temple Beth Shalom. The temple and Rabbi Elizabeth Goldstein, an assistant professor of religious studies at Gonzaga, coordinated the events with the help of local sponsors.
Temple Beth Shalom is the place to be this weekend. On March 10, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. it will host its annual Kosher Dinner, which is known for satisfying thousands of appetites from across the region.
