BRIEF: Christmas in July Food Drive begins this week

Starting Thursday Positive Life Radio will be collecting canned food, nonperishable food items and toiletries to deliver to food banks around the Inland Northwest.

Items needed most are:

- Bath Soap
- Bath Tissue
- Diapers

Pope Francis cleans house at the Vatican Bank

VATICAN CITY (RNS) Two top managers of the Vatican Bank resigned on Monday (July 1), just five days after Pope Francis appointed an independent commission to conduct a top-to-bottom review of the scandal-plagued bank.

The surprise resignation of the bank’s director general, Paolo Cipriani, and of his deputy, Massimo Tulli, follows the arrest of a senior Vatican official with close ties to the bank who was charged on Friday with attempting to smuggle 20 million euros into Italy from Switzerland.

Local Christian radio listeners raise money for wells in Guatemala

On Jan. 31, KEEH-FM’s Don Godman hosted a 4-hour on-air fundraiser that raised more $21,000 to dig two new wells in a remote village in Guatemala.

With partner, Water for Life, and support from listeners, about 700 people in the village of La Compuerta at the top of a dry hill in Guatemala, will have a clean source of fresh water for their homes, according to a press release

Help the little drummer boys among us

As I was driving home this evening from a massive amount of errands, the song “Little Drummer Boy” by Jars of Clay came on the radio. This is far from my favorite Christmas song, but the words came to a deeper meaning this particular holiday.
