I am sorry that so many of us have deeply internalized the message that we mustn’t let anyone know when we are in a place of grief or disorientation or lostness. I am especially sorry when we feel that we cannot share these things at church, that the church is not a place in which we can be physically or emotionally or spiritually wounded, that we need to be whole and healthy before we show up in God’s house.
On the other hand, the mess is also a sign that the kitchen itself has been busy: creating desserts for a charity auction, baking supper for new friends, making daily breakfasts and lunches for children. This hospitality is holy work.

Mature spirituality will never provide us with childlike answers to the incomprehensible, to the difficult questions in life, or to the social problems plaguing our country, and rightfully so. Instead, it will ask ever-larger questions of us and demand arduous actions that ultimately lead to a larger life.
For man to live in compatibility and harmony with creation, fellow man, and God, and for him to understand God's personas, it is important that he understand how he was designed.
The measure of our faith in Jesus comes from a life led. All other measures are simple window dressings and distractions. How we live as we follow Jesus reveals the nature of Christianity.
