What the Bible says about Christians and money

It never ceases to amaze me the ways in which we Christians can and do ignore biblical teachings about money and wealth and rationalize our behaviors. It seems to me that the Bible is pretty clear on this subject.

Libido high, libido low: a Christian perspective on unequal desire in the bedroom

It’s the blessed marriage where both partners have equal sexual expectations. They both desire to engage in sexual intimacy at the same frequency. However, I would venture to say that there are a higher number of marriages that have mismatched sexual frequency expectations or desire discrepancy.
This leads to one spouse being the lower drive and one spouse being the higher drive.

What is discipleship?

Luke 9:51-62 invites us to reflect on the issue of discipleship. Discipleship is often misunderstood in our culture. We tend to think of a disciple, especially in a Christian context, as one who has some familiarity with Jesus, and who is favorably disposed toward him.

Producers of the latest reboot of the “Superman” franchise famously marketed the movie to Christian audiences. Makers of the new “Lone Ranger” movie, not so much.

There’s a reason for that. If “Man of Steel” panders to Christians, in “The Lone Ranger,” Christians are portrayed as unattractive, ineffectual, hateful or flat-out hypocritically evil.

A Lutheran for the summer

If you were to look at my life from afar, one might call me a seeker. But not in the sense of “I don’t know what I believe” or “Is there even a God?” No – I am a committed Christian, earnestly seeking a life that glorifies the father through the love of Christ with the guidance of the Spirit. Before I knew it, I was in their car, propped in the passenger seat while he drove and she sat silently in the back.  The heat from our bodies filled the car as a stench from somewhere inside us leaked from our pores.  Sweat seeped through my worn t-shirt as I guzzled another gulp from my water jug.

Many reading that last sentence would focus on one of two words: Christian or writer.
