This weekend Temple Beth Shalom is hosting the Global Day of Jewish Learning. Events start tonight and continue through Sunday. The focus will be “gratefulness.”

It’s also a busy weekend for the Unitarian Universalist Church of Spokane. On Saturday the church will host the Legislative Conference in Eastern Washington beginning at 10 a.m. It’s also celebrating the completion of its Church Solar Project. A ribbon cutting took place today and on Sunday, following a 11 a.m. a sermon on the environment there will be an open house to see the church’s new solar project.

Next week is Thanksgiving. Did it sneak up anyone else? On Nov. 22 St. Aloyisus Church will have a free Thanksgiving dinner on the Gonzaga campus. The meal starts at noon. For questions call 313-7001.

Though this event isn’t surrounding food, the Interfaith Council of Spokane will also have a Thanksgiving service next week. On Thanksgiving Day at the Unitarian church, at 10 a.m., they’ll have a program that focuses on “Giving Thanks for our Differences.”

And what’s Thanksgiving without a little football? The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Institute of Religion will have its annual Turkey Bowl at the West Stake Center at 10 a.m. tomorrow. Sounds fun!

One last note about Thanksgiving — forecasters are predicting a wet week. Get those leaves raked while you can!

Before I let you go, I’m pleased to announce our new partnership with Revolutionary Spirituality on KYRS. Tune in every other Monday to hear host Sandy Williams talk about faith and spirituality. I’ll be the guest on her show Nov. 26 to talk about faith and the election.
