Is it any wonder that great miracles
always seemed to happen on the road

The manna in the desert, the healing of the blind man
the courageous and compassionate Good Samaritan,
the bleeding woman, the conversion of Zacchaeus,

the healing of the boy with a demon, the raising of a widow’s son,
the healing of Jairus’s daughter
the burning of hearts on the road to Emmaus,

the boat ride across the sea
and the calming of the storm,
the walking on water, and the catching of fish

They all seemed to happen in transit
when they were headed somewhere else
busy trying to get to their destiny

Perhaps it’s a reminder to not be afraid to be stopped in our tracks
to slow down the pace
to be present to the now

Miracles often happen
when we are trying to get
somewhere else

Perhaps when we stop our feverish pace of getting there
We can recognize
the glory here
