About 300 Gonzaga University students, Jesuits, faculty, staff, alumni, family and friends are expected to take part in the university’s 44th annual pilgrimage to the historic Mission of the Sacred Heart – or Cataldo Mission – in Cataldo, Idaho on Sept. 14, according to a press release. The pilgrimage is open to all members of the Gonzaga community.

Participants will embark on an 11-mile wilderness hike to the Mission of the Sacred Heart, the site of Idaho’s oldest-standing building and headquarters of this region’s first Jesuit missionaries. Alumni, faculty and staff are welcome to arrive at the Mission at approximately 1:30 p.m. to welcome the pilgrims, and take part in Mass and lunch. There is no cost for this option, but Gonzaga requests that those interested please register. Students will travel by bus from campus to the start of their hike.
