One of my favorite movies that has a faith focus is: “Babette’s Feast.” I loved the way faith and pleasure were introduced as antidotes to the often curmudgeonly prone nature of piety.
Beauty is better than bitter in the flirting of faith.
I am a fan of truth telling more than faith peddling. It’s rare to see faith films that don’t over season with the salt of truth. Too many of these types of films feel like multi-level marketing schemes.
I think proselytizing should be more like growing flowers. It’s ok to share flowers, let others enjoy them in your own yard but one shouldn’t pluck out others or plant in another’s yard.
Good faith is fragrant and beautiful, it shouldn’t need to be demanded, fought over or pushed down people’s throats.
Babette’s Feast just happens to be on my DVR right now so I’m glad to have this recommendation – I’ll have to watch it rather than skipping past it to watch another rerun of Modern Family.
