A “Rally WITH Refugees!” will be held Sunday at Gonzaga University.
Organized by World Relief Spokane, Whitworth University and Gonzaga, the city-wide event is designed to show support for refugees living in Spokane, according to an announcement.
At the rally refugees are expected to talk about their experiences coming to the U.S. Local faith and civic leaders are also planning to speak. According to World Relief Spokane, attendees can learn what the recent Executive Order on Immigration means for the Spokane community and can find out ways to get involved and advocate for refugees locally.
“Now is the time to stand in solidarity with the international community inhabiting and enriching our city. Due to the Executive Order, federal funding for World Relief (the primary resettlement agency in our region) has ceased, and the number of refugees now able to come to Spokane has been drastically reduced,” World Relief Spokane posted on Facebook.
The rally will be held at Gonzaga’s Hemmingson Ballroom Sunday at 2 p.m.
