Beginning this month the Spokane Buddhist Temple will offer a six-week Introduction to Buddhism class, which will be taught be Sensei Paul Vielle, one of the temple’s volunteer ministers.
This course is for those interested in learning the Buddha’s basic teachings and will explore questions including, “Why do we suffer in life,” and “Is it possible to truly be happy?” According to announcement from SBT, “These are heady subjects, to be sure, but Buddhism challenges us to think deeply about ourselves, from a new perspective.”
There is no required text for these classes, although a list of recommended “Buddhism for Beginners” books will be available on the first day of class.
Classes will be held on Sundays following the service at 12:30 p.m. and continue until 1:45 p.m. All are welcome. The class is free, although donations are welcome.
