The insurrectionist mob that stormed the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday carried an array of flags and signs that indicate that not only are they Republicans, but also that they are Christians.
In videos shared on Twitter, protesters identified as Proud Boys, the far-right group, marched in the street with a Black Lives Matter banner on fire, cheering and shouting, “F*** anti-fa!” The late-night protests ended with four people stabbed and 23 arrested.
If QAnon was a cult run by people intentionally trying to deceive new followers (which I don’t believe it is, for the most part) my critique for its leaders would be that they’re trying too hard.
The nearly nationwide stay-at-home orders will test whether churches can maintain a connection with their communities to draw them back into their doors when it’s safe to do so again — or speed their decline.
