The Kitchen at Second Harvest is offering a four-day series of cooking classes for kids April 2-5, just in time for spring break. “Around the World in Four Days” will take kids on a culinary journey around the globe, with stops in Brazil, Mexico, India and the Middle East.

Classes are from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. April 2-5; the Kitchen is located at 1234 E Front Ave in Spokane. Registration costs $100 and there are a limited number of seats. The classes are designed for children aged 8-12. Register online or learn more about the cooking camp here.

Second Harvest partners with food banks and meal centers in the Inland Northwest to provide food to people who need it; in one week they feed over 55,000 people. The Kitchen takes it a step further by “investing in long-term health through nutrition education and hands-on cooking lessons.” According to their website:

The Kitchen empowers families to reduce or eliminate the foods that contribute to obesity and nutrition-related health conditions. Children and adults learn to make healthy yet economical food choices, helping them move out of poverty.

By taking cooking classes at the Kitchen at Second Harvest, patrons not only have a fun time and learn how to cook something delicious, they also help fund free cooking and nutrition classes for people experiencing hardships. That way, everyone is able to have fun and learn how to prepare fresh, healthy food.
