Religion is like a recipe
that points the Way
to the Tao, the Dharma,
the Way, the Truth, and the Life.
Helpful and necessary, we hold it lightly
knowing that life is not so much about
finding the answers
but relishing the questions.
Like a novice running around
clasping the recipe and shouting,
“these are the steps, this is the Way”
and coming into a Master Chef’s house,
sees the banquet already laid out,
the chef taking delight in the smells, the tastes,
and the Joy of cooking and in awe,
the recipe silently falls from his fingertips.
