The upcoming Health Beauty Spa Show will benefit the YWCA’s Alternatives to Domestic Violence Program. Included will also be a food and hygiene supply drive for the Women’s Safe Shelter and a portion of the net show proceeds will benefit program which helps women escape domestic abuse.
“This is one of the things that get us through the winter months, and is so greatly appreciated” says Melanie Wilson, YWCA Community Resource Coordinator for Alternatives to Domestic Violence Safe Shelter, in a press release.
Approximately 15,000 domestic violence calls per year are made to Spokane’s 911 emergency system. Thirty-seven percent of women treated in the ER are domestic violence victims. One in three women report being physically or sexually abused at some point in their lives, according to the release.
Paid admission to the Health Beauty Spa Show allows attendees to pamper themselves with a buffet of complimentary sample health and beauty services with your admission. Additional spa services are also available for $5. Admission is $10 or $8 with a donation of a non-perishable food or hygiene item for the YWCA Domestic Violence Safe Shelter.
This year guests may also pre-purchase an early admission VIP pass at the YWCA which includes no wait admission for one, plus two of the $5 sample spa treatments for $20, or $18 with the food/hygiene item donation.
The event is being held Jan. 18-19 at the Spokane Community College Lair. Admission and spa treatments may be purchased at the door.
