Ven. Thubten Chodron, founder of Sravasti Abbey, will be giving a talk on Tuesday at North Idaho College examining how identity can either divide, or unite.
In her lecture, “Being Human: Not Seeing the World as Us and Them,” Chodron will share her experience as a Buddhist nun, where, according to a press release, she’s spent four decades training her mind, “to see past markers of identity: nationality, gender, sexuality, culture, and so on—to focus on our common human identity as the foundation for universal love and compassion.”
The talk will be from 6:30-8 p.m. in the college’s Edminster Student Union Building, 1000 W. Garden Ave. in Coeur d’Alene.
