According to Jewish Virtual Library, the world contains roughly 13.7 million Jews. An estimated 5.4 million of these live in the United States, making up just 1.74 percent of the country’s population. Even in the nation with the second-largest Jewish population (after Israel), we are a small minority. In light of this, the task of engaging millennials—- people who are currently 13 to 30 years old — can appear crucial to the very survival of Judaism.

Next week Spokane’s Jewish community will observe Passover, an eight-day commemoration honoring the liberation of the Israelites from slavery in ancient Egypt.

Temple Beth Shalom is the place to be this weekend.
On March 10, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. it will host its annual Kosher Dinner, which is known for satisfying thousands of appetites from across the region.

Temple Beth Shalom’s 72nd Kosher Dinner will be held March 10 from 11 a.m to 6 p.m. and Spokane community is invited to be a part of the annual event, which draws in thousands of guests.

The lecture slated for tomorrow, "Film as Theology: Finding Meaning and the Sacred in Cinema" has been canceled.
