Fans of a beloved contemporary Christian hymn won’t get any satisfaction in a new church hymnal.

The committee putting together a new hymnal for the Presbyterian Church (USA) dropped the popular hymn “In Christ Alone” because the song’s authors refused to change a phrase about the wrath of God.

First Presbyterian Church of Coeur d’Alene has been downtown since 1888. But their membership hasn’t always been growing as fast as it is today. Until last summer, the church only needed one worship service. Recently, thought, the church became so full they were forced to add a second. And now their sanctuary is getting a makeover.

“Cowards can never be moral” is the current message flashing across the digital sign outside of Bethany Presbyterian Church.
