BRIEF: On tax day, locals will submit photo petitions calling for Pentagon cuts

Today, as the national debate over sequestration cuts and budget priorities wages on, locals will make their voices heard by delivering hand-written letters and "Money for People, Not for War" photo petitions to Rep. McMorris-Rodgers, Sen. Patty Murray and Sen. Maria Cantwell. This is the latest in a series of actions from community members calling for Pentagon cuts and shifting funds to education, healthcare and community needs, according to the Peace and Justice Action League of Spokane.

Upcoming Spokane conference to focus on economic justice, action

The fourth annual Peace and Economic Justice Action Conference will take place March 15-16 at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Spokane, 4340 W. Fort George Wright Drive.

Organized by the Peace and Justice Action League of Spokane,  or PJALS, the conference aims to educate people on local and national issues, get them excited about positive change and help provide ways for to put their interests and passions into action.

Registration is now open for the upcoming Peace and Economic Justice Action Conference, which will open with a reception March 15 followed by a day of workshops on March 16.
