When you have been at this ministry thing a while, when you have been “re-inventing” oneself, “renewing one’s ministry,” “exploring new models,” “challenging oneself to new possibilities” for as long as I have been doing this…it gets tiring.
I am sick of hearing this guy’s name — Mark Driscoll. This decade’s bad boy preacher, Driscoll manages to remain in the limelight by behaving like an abusive spouse, constantly apologizing for his behavior while continuing to act in the exact same way.
Several weeks ago, I went with some relatives to have dinner with the "matriarch" of one side of family. This was the first time I had seen her since I completed my graduate degree in December and, due to both the distance and age that separates us, it had also been many months since we had last talked.
