I end the class by stating that if we are ever to move forward as a country, we must recognize that we (European Americans) committed the largest mass genocide in history, and we must ask for forgiveness. There is a sense of agreement among the students to this statement, as impossible of a reality as it may seem.

The Dakota Access pipeline would transport 470,000 barrels of crude oil per day, according to Dallas-based Energy Transfer, the parent company of Dakota Access. It would reduce the amount of oil shipped by truck and train, providing safer transport of oil, the company argues.
On Friday the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia is expected to rule on whether construction can continue on the Dakota Access Pipeline. In response, local Indigenous leaders and community groups will be gathering in downtown Spokane, starting on Friday at 4 p.m.
