I take comfort in reading the nativity narrative in seeing that even for the Holy Family nothing went according to plan

(RNS) These days, a growing number of Muslims celebrate Christmas, or at least partake in some ways, even if they don’t decorate their homes with trees and a light show. Indeed, many Muslim families have created their own unique Christmas traditions.

Forget Christmas wars. Culture wars are all the rage. Duck Dynasty battles continue. And Mecca has a new governor.

Does historical accuracy matter at Christmas? Or is this story about a different kind of truth?

I think it's perfectly acceptable for a non-Christian to celebrate Christmas.

I think for many people their Christianity is cultural rather then religious.

I've been celebrating it for 34 years, and I'm Jewish.
