I think it is OK for a pastor to talk about politics to make a point in their sermon, if they can use the topic to help illustrate their point. If using Bill Clinton as an example to illustrate the consequences of lying about adultery will help get the point across, then it is fine.
The time it is not okay is when the pastor is using the pulpit as a way to try and get their followers to agree with them on their political views.
It is also wrong for someone who is running for a political office, to use the pulpit as a way to gain support for their campaign. As United States citizens, we are given the freedom to choose our own political parties, we shouldn’t be having anyone trying to influence our decision, whether it is one of our friends, or someone we trust in the church.
