I think for many people their Christianity is cultural rather then religious. I ‘m beginning to think of myself as a “religious Christian” much as there are “religious Jews” in Israel. They make a differentiation because being Jewish is also a racial distinction.
So, I agree that Christmas is a cultural tradition in America and other Anglo-Saxon countries, and since I do not even remotely think that most Americans are celebrating the birth of my Christ, I see nothing wrong in their enjoying a lovely holiday tradition. Most of our Christmas icons didn’t start out as Christian religious symbols anyway; the tree, yule log, etc., so it doesn’t bother me at all to see them used simply for the joy of celebration. So, yeah, it’s OK with me that non-Christians celebrate Christmas. No problem.
