An upcoming Methodist revival is coming to Spokane this weekend, and is happening throughout the Pacific Northwest to focus on community inclusion and participation. The revival is aimed at transitioning the church toward recognizing equality and care for the community.
Unlike a traditional revival, there will be no altar call. Instead attendees are encouraged to reflect on how they can become an embodiment of love in other people’s lives, according to organizers. The event will feature numerous atists and presenters, including Bishop Gretchen Rehberg of the Episcopal Diocese of Spokane and Bishop
The Rev. Katy Fitz Shedlock, a pastor at Audubon Park United Methodist Church and a creator of The Studio congregation, assisted in organizing this event.
“One of the things I’m excited for is for people to come to West Central. The revival is really in the heart of the neighborhood at one of the oldest churches in Spokane and yeah for people to just be in this neighborhood in particular as they think about what it means to love their neighbors,” she said.
