Makayla Desjarlais, a prevention services coordinator at The NATIVE Project, will be a guest panelist at this weekend’s Coffee Talk on “Addressing Racism and Prejudices.”
Desjarlais, who is enrolled with the Chippewa-Cree Tribe from Rocky Boy, Montana, coordinates youth service programs with the NATIVE Project, including Indian Youth Leadership Camp, the Indian Youth Summer Program and Wellness Program.
She also serves as a part time reserve officer with the Coeur d’Alene Tribal Police. She worked full-time for the Tribal Police from 2011-2014 and during that time was cross-deputized by both Kootenai and Benewah counties.
Desjarlais is originally from Post Falls, Idaho and holds a degree in criminal justice from St. Edwards University.
Coffee Talk will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Indaba Coffee.
