Spring blossoms

so strong

so vibrant

so beautiful!

so fragile!

The climax of winter’s long

hibernation of design

culminating

in such beauty, color, and variety

too numerous to count

as they scatter the open fields

like stars in the sky

too precious to hold

like a baby fast asleep

They are wisped away

in an instant

wilted by a single frost

All the work and preparation of winter

gone as quickly as they came

But ah….the fruit!

So sweet!

So generous!

To last all summer and sustain

us for next winters’ barren nights
