Joe Niemiec

The Rev. Joe Niemiec Jr. began his spiritual quest in 1986 when he walked out of a Houston jail and was struck by the realization that his life was in shambles. He began his quest for ‘getting back on track’ with 12 step programs, followed by learning and practicing meditation with a local Redding, California, teacher.

The meaning of marriage evolves

The human consciousness evolves and so, therefore, do relationships.

The whole idea of marriage was to ensure that a couple, man and woman, could procreate and thereby extend the size and power of a particular tribe or even religion.

Religion hasn’t been a good voice

In this moment I look at both the history and current “loud” voices we seem to be hearing the most and I must say that, for the most part, religion has and is not a particularly good voice in the world.

Where I turn when I’m feeling down

I do not necessarily turn to books when I’m feeling down. Most often I turn to music, the New Thought music of praising life or music that creates space for contemplation, and meditation through Native American flute music.

The importance of feminine wisdom

When I look at the luminaries, from Emma Curtis Hopkins and Myrtle Fillmore to Louise Hay and Jean Houston, who have been an integral part of both the New Thought Movement and the development of Centers for Spiritual Living, I recognize that without them there may not have been a New Thought movement at all.

I would never tell someone they couldn’t try to contact the dead

I have always found restrictive all the “rules” that are imposed by different religions.It would be interesting to combine all of the rules of all of the religions and see what action the individual is able to make on their own.

Creation is doing quite well

Our teaching has its roots in the 18th century transcendentalist movement, which was considered pantheistic in its understanding of God; the Universe itself is Spirit manifest. In this regard, I believe that the unfoldment creation is doing quite well.

Season for nonviolence

At our Center for Spiritual Living we celebrate Season for Nonviolence, which was started and continued by the Association for Global New Thought.
