Amy Rice

Amy C. Rice is a technical services and systems librarian at Whitworth University. She has been attending Nazarene churches for most of her life.  As a result, she often approaches issues through a Wesleyan-Arminian perspective.

Responsibility as Christians and citizens?

If we take seriously the concept that faith affects one's "real life," then it seems that part of a preacher's job is to dicuss issues (some of which may be political) with the congregation.

Religion can be a voice for good

I think religion can be a voice for good, and there are certainly good things that come of religion.

People interpret the Bible differently

I think a creative liberty is an interpretation.

I find community in church

I find community at church, particularly small group Bible studies.

So when are you going to get married?

I am single. I am over the age of 30. I may have a cat living at my house (it’s my roommate’s! I promise!).  Why is this relevant? And did you find it strange that my first identifying characteristic is my marital status?

Practice and language

My parents raised my brother and me to be careful of our words. We weren't allowed to say demeaning things about (or to) other people.
