Sometimes I miss FāVs News’ original name, Spokane Faith and Values. It’s the values part that makes me a fan. It’s the values that connect me with you, every writer and reader that visits the FāVs site. It’s the values part that gives me hope.

I’m a daily reader, a monthly donor and an occasional contributor to FāVS News and the network of people connected by their faith and/or their values. As a Buddhist nun, my faith is deep, but it’s very different from most of yours. But reading FāVS teaches me, and sometimes consoles me, to know how deeply you and I share common values.

I love reading FāVS every day to hear your stories, to understand how you relate to the world through the lens of your values and your faith.

There’s no place else I can go to reconfirm that Christians, Muslims, Jews, Atheists and all the rest share values that are rooted in goodness, and that basic human goodness connects us. Because when I read the mainline news sources, I sometimes wonder if I’m alone in the world.

Does that ever happen to you?

That’s why I’m writing this little opinion piece to urge you to make a gift to FāVs News before 2025, a year of many sorrows, passes away completely.

My tiny little monthly gift doesn’t do much, but it’s a drop that feeds the ocean of support that I believe FāVS deserves. Giving to FāVS is an investment in the cherished values that I see in you, too. When we all give, we share the responsibility to keep these values and our hope alive.

Whether you give $6, $60, $600, or the whole $6,000 still needed to meet the goal, let our collective generosity reflect our values in mutual support.

May your holidays be peaceful, and your care for the world be sustained.
