The Gonzaga Center of the Study of Hate may not exist when students return to campus this fall. The Center sits in a budgetary unknown due to a “Grand Challenge” strategic planning process implemented by Provost Sacha Kopp that has yet to be finalized and announced.
The 7th International Conference on Hate Studies will take place in Spokane April 20-22. “The Challenges of Hate in the 21st Century” is this year’s conference theme. The deadline to register is April 10.
Oct. 19-21, 2017, Gonzaga University will host the Fourth International Conference on Hate Studies. The interdisciplinary academic forum tackles the topic of hate and related social issues, and the ways to combat it.
American University Law Professor Robert L. Tsai will discuss American Nazis’ efforts to claim the Pacific Northwest as their white homeland in a lecture titled, “The Northwest American Republic: Dreams of White Forefathers” at 7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 30 in the Gonzaga University School of Law Barbieri Courtroom.
John Shuford, director of the Gonzaga University Institute for Hate Studies, and Robert L. Tsai (pronounced “Sigh”), professor at the American University Washington College of Law, will co-host a special symposium from 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m. on Sept. 27 at American University Washington College of Law in Washington, D.C.
