BRIEF: Group to discuss Catholic compassion

On June 19, at 7 p.m., Friends of Compassion will meet to discussion "Catholic Compassion: Practices and Motivation."

The meeting will be in the SNAP Buildling, 3102 W. Ft. George Drive.

The Prodigal Son: God accepts what we turn away

In Luke 15 (1-3, 11-32) we find one of the better known stories in the New Testament, often referred to as the story of the prodigal son. Being familiar to most of us, we may tend to focus on the memorable parts of the story; often, the prodigal. Since what we focus on also determines what we miss, in this reflection I would like to focus on two details that are at times overlooked.

The church can’t forget about compassion

To me, the church exists because we are all sinners. No one — no matter how dramatic their frocks, how imprinted Scripture is on their mind, or how tall their hat is — is worthy of judging others.
