We need not travel to distant lands to alleviate the suffering of the world

In an announcement this week Sravasti Abbey, the Tibetan Buddhist monastery in Newport, condemned the Orlando mass shooting and said responding with "Bigotry, discrimination, and angry retaliation" isn't an effective response.

When we don’t have compassion on ourselves, we sure struggle to have compassion for others.

It never occurred to me as a Christian that human beings are hardwired for compassion.

You can think of the Frontal lobe function as a triangle: Caring, Creativity, and Clear thinking.

It teaches that we’re all one, like John Lennon sang, and that I’m a part owner of any other person’s suffering.
