Sr. Loretta Marie Marceau, SP, died on Sept. 14 at Mount St. Joseph in Spokane. She was 98 years old and had served 74 years as a Sister of Providence.
A vigil service will be held Sept. 20 at Mount St. Joseph, 12 W. 9th Avenue. Funeral Mass will be Sept. 21 at 10:30 a.m, same location. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery at 1:30 pm. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Marceau entered the Sisters of Providence in 1938, in Seattle and made her first profession in 1940, and her final vows in 1943. As a Sister of Providence, she celebrated her Golden Jubilee (50 yrs) in 1988, her Diamond Jubilee (60 yrs) in 1998, and her Ruby Jubilee (70 yrs) in 2008. Her niece, Ida Mae Marceau, is also a Sister of Providence.
