In response to the beating of Jacina Carla Scamahorn, a transgender woman who was allegedly beaten by two men downtown on Friday night, Spokanites are urged to take a moment on Friday to stand against hate crimes.
The Peace and Justice Action League of Spokane is asking people to gather between Main Ave between Division and Browne at noon Friday to, “stand with friends and neighbors in solidarity against hate crimes in our community.”
Two men were arrested for assaulting Scamahorn, but have since been released.
