I have two favorite holiday traditions the first one is the hanging of lights, which if you recall from my Christmas article last year, is a shared Buddhist and western tradition. And the second is mochi pounding at New Years. They are two very different traditions but I enjoy them for the same reason.
I enjoy these traditions because I&aposve always done them with family. They are things that we all come together and have fun doing. I imagine that if you inspect the winter holiday traditions that people of other faiths enjoy, they will also share this common thread.
The holidays are undoubtedly a spiritual time, but they are also a time for family. Ultimately, I believe it is that family connection that makes them so enjoyable for everyone.
