Evolution is the time between an idea being formulated and the outcome or manifestation to materialize. Revolution is when a seemingly foreign idea is realized and we do everything in our power to internalize and manifest it. The difference being the revolutionary idea seems totally foreign rather than an idea whose time has come.
When I look at all religious founders, from Buddha to Ernest Holmes, their ideas seemed revolutionary at the time; then the religion which grew from their teaching evolved into what we experience today. One of the greatest challenges of being human is participating in the evolution of our own faith, thus being a part of the change. When we try to slow evolution (or stop it) we are unconsciously participating in a revolution…the new idea, the new form, will come with or without our participation.
The question is whether we wish to consciously participate in the evolution of the human spirit, or try to block and possibly become a voyeur of life, rather than actively participating and evolving in our own being.
