Elder Gary Thurber declined to accept the call to serve as president of Upper Columbia Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, according to a press release.
Thurber said he prayerfully considered the invitation over the weekend and notified the conference that he plans to remain in Colorado.
Following Thurber’s decision, North Pacific Union Conference president, Elder Max Torkelsen, contacted Elder Paul Hoover, the next person voted by the Upper Columbia Conference Executive and Nominating Committees to serve as president. Hoover currently serves as vice president for administration in the Georgia-Cumberland Conference.
