Julia Stronks practiced law and is a professor of political science at Whitworth University in Spokane. She writes about faith, law and public policy. Her most recent book, written with her mother Gloria Goris Stronks, Professor emeritus of Calvin College, is "Teaching to Faith, Citizenship and Civic Virtue" (Resources Publications: Wipf and Stock, 2014). I have three heroes. My mom grew up in a Midwestern farm community that today values President Trump and conservative biblical interpretation. But somehow my mom became a teacher who stood with Jews and African Americans in early 1960s Nashville.
