New polls show support for Inslee, Obama, Ref. 74 and marijuana

Two polls released today show most voters support Referendum 74, Democrat Jay Inslee, Barack Obama and legalizing marijuana. 

A poll conducted by SurveyUSA shows approval for Ref. 74 is at 52 percent, while 43 percent of likely voters say they reject the measure.

The poll, which surveyed 555 likely voters, also showed Inslee was in the lead at 47 percent and Obama has a 14-point lead over Mitt Romney.

Approval for Initiative 502, which would legalize marijuana for medical use, was leading at 56 percent.

A second survey, the KCTS 9 Washington Poll, also indicated that the  majority of voters are leaning towards approving Referendum 74 and the passage of Initiative 502. It showed Obama having a 20-point lead over Romney, while Inslee was leading Republican Rob McKenna by only 3 percentage points.

According to the Washington Poll 57.3 percent of registered voters and 57.9 percent of likely voters support Ref. 74.

The poll sampled 722 registered voters and 632 likely voters.
